Beatrice
A. Rothweiler
In
December 1997 Beatrice A. Rothweiler joined Portage
Capital, Inc., a consulting firm serving selected
emerging companies seeking to grow. Rothweiler has
an extensive corporate background not only with clients
raising capital, but also those growing through joint
ventures, licensing, acquisitions and franchising.
Rothweiler has over twenty years of experience working
with early stage, emerging and growing companies in
the United States and internationally. Rothweiler
is a founder, or advisor for companies such as Reliastar
Investment Research, Demand Video Inc., Iconoculture
Inc., and Chart Industries. Rothweiler is also part
of the team managing day to day operations of Portage
Equity Investments II LP, an early stage accredited
venture capital seed funds. Portage Equity invests
in software, Internet content and Internet enablers,
medical device, biotech, telecommunications, wireless
web, and IT technology companies.

Prior
to joining Portage Capital, Rothweiler was a partner of
the Minneapolis law firm of Larkin Hoffman, Daly & Lindgren,
focusing almost sixteen years of practice on international
corporate transactions as will as advising clients on business
and legal issues affecting their growth. Prior to joining
Larkin Hoffman, she began her corporate international career
in Germany working on various international transactions.
Rothweiler
has been active for over ten years in and is a past President
of the Minnesota Chapter of National Association of Women
Business Owners, an international organization of women
entrepreneurs. In 1991 Rothweiler received the Minnesota
Women in Business Advocate of the Year from the US Small
Business Administration. She is also currently on the SBA
District Advisory Council and in 1996 was a Minnesota delegate
to the White House Conference on Small Business.
In addition
to her professional practice, Rothweiler is very committed
to various community activities. She is active in and prior
Co-Chair of the Board of Directors, Minnesota Dance Alliance,
a nonprofit service organization advocating dance in Minnesota.
She has also served on numerous other Board of Directors,
including Families with Children from China, a volunteer
led nonprofit supporting families who have adopted children
from China as well as the Living at Home/Block Nursing Program,
Ltd., a nonprofit health care organization. Rothweiler is
also an adjunct faculty member of the School of Business,
St. Thomas University where she has taught in their Taiwan
program. Rothweiler has also spoken and published extensively
throughout the world on various business and legal topics.
Rothweiler
graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota in
1976 with BA in political science and received a JD with
honors from Hamline University School of Law in 1979.
